Good Day everyone, We just completed our 2nd visit for Sakon Nakhon. Fulfilling the visit to 200 families is a very rewarding experience as it had opened my eyes deeper towards the good of these common people. In our usual living, we are always focus in our work, family, earnings and retirement planning. To do a little more for those who are unfortunate, we have to forgo some of our wants. There is always a comfort zone we seek, prepare and live in. To go to these areas, sometimes can be daunting for some. I had learnt several things from this experience. One of them is humility. These farmers, they each have a small piece of land to tend to, they work the fields in preparing the land for planting padi. The weather is scorching hot and at this period there is little rain. I learnt from the local with the help the long mountain ridge line, it naturally channels rain water to many water catchment areas hence allowing many small streams to flow through the flat lands. This is very ideal for padi planting. If the lands are water based areas, it will allow irrigation by digging wells. Because of this very reason, King Bhumibol came up with the idea of building dams to channel water to the flat lands. In the 200 families, i saw they have members that are elderly, blind, paralyze and diagnose with medical conditions that render incapable of working in the fields. The next project is coming up in Jan 2013. We will focus in 120 - 150 families this time round and since its the coldest period in Sakon Nakhon, we will plan to provide blankets and pillows for these families. For schooling upgrades, we will provide teaching materials and uniforms for 4 nurseries and it's students, It will be a 5 day project which is just 5 months away. There are much to do in this area and i look forward to your continuous support. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To see more photos, please click on this link.....
