In a rare conincidence, two serious falls occured on the same raceday at Sha Tin racecourse on Sunday, prompting four jockeys to be hospitalized after being dislodged from their rides in two seperate races. The Hong Kong Jockey Club that jockeys Vincent Ho Chak-yiu, Zac Purton, Angus Chung Yik-lai and Keith Yeung Ming-lun were hospitalized after the nasty falls. The first dismount happened in race 6 in the 11-race card at Sha Tin on Sunday, when Oldtown stumbled when it was sitting in the middle of the pack during the final dash to the finishing post, sending Ho crashing to the turf. Oldtown was able to stand back on its feet right after the fall and gallop away unharmed but Ho remained motionless on the track as paramedics rushed to his aid. Ho was placed in a neck brace and loaded into an ambulance before being taken to nearby Prince of Wales Hospital. The club confirmed that Ho sustained shoulder and neck injuries and had to be hospitalized for treatment. Later in the day, a three-ride pile-up occured in race 9, when Legend St Paul's stumbled and dislodged jockey Chung. Lupo Solitario, with Yeung aboard, and Purton-ridden Silvery Breeze were too close behind and were therefore also dislodged from their rides. Chung sustained facial and upper body injuries, Purton sustained injuries in his left toes and knee, while Yeung sustained arm and thigh injuries, according to the club. All three of them were hospitalized for observation. Karis Teetan, who was on board Star Contact, escaped injuries as he swerved to the side in time. But Legend St Paul's sustained severe left front foot injuries and could not be rescued.
